School of Nursing Bios

Ms. April DeGuzman teaches at the undergraduate level as an Instructor in the Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing at Charleston Southern University. She received her bachelor of science in nursing from Georgia College and State University, her master of science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and she is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is nationally certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. Ms. DeGuzman has over 10 years of experience caring for cardiology, medical/surgical, and critically ill patients. Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member, Ms. DeGuzman specialized in clinical research.

She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the South Carolina Nurses Association. Ms. DeGuzman serves as a faculty advisor to the Student Nurses Association and to the Charleston area Citywide Clinical Orientation Committee.
