Additional parking options for CSU Graduation

Marketing & Communication // 4.26.19 (last revised 5.2.19 at 5:10 p.m.)

Due to parking limitations at the North Charleston Coliseum for the Saturday, May 4 graduation, Charleston Southern will provide additional parking options for graduates, their family and friends. Please note the Coliseum will begin to accept parking passes at 7 a.m. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the ceremony begins at 10, with colors posted at 9:30 a.m. All guests are encouraged to arrive early as traffic will be extremely heavy.

If you would like to drop off a graduate or others who may need assistance, use the loop between the Coliseum and the Performing Arts Center as a drop off and pick up area. It says “Drop Off” on the map below. This is directly beside where our graduates will be exiting at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Extra Parking Pass for Coliseum Parking

CSU will hold a drawing at noon on Monday, April 29, for additional parking passes. Only one additional parking pass per winner will be given. If interested, please email the Registrar’s Office at register@csuniv.edu from your BucMail. Only emails from a valid CSU BucMail address will be allowed to enter the drawing. The Registrar’s Office will notify winners by close of business on Monday, April 29. Winners may claim the additional parking pass after 8 a.m. on Tuesday from the Registrar’s Office.

Parking at World Harvest Community Church

Another option is to meet and park at World Harvest Community Church (3441 West Montague Avenue, North Charleston), then carpool to the Coliseum in two vehicles or walk. World Harvest Community Church has approximately 250 parking spaces and is located about 200 yards from the North Charleston Coliseum. Because parking is limited, space availability will be first come, first serve. It’s best to arrive early. If this lot is full, continue to the next option.

DIRECTIONS

Parking or Charter Bus from Abandoned Hagemeyer Parking Lot

About 250-300 spaces are available in the old Hagemeyer parking lot (4790 Goer Drive, North Charleston). Hagemeyer, a business that sells electrical materials, has closed (Hagemeyer sign is faded and difficult to see). Nevertheless, guests are welcome to use this lot to park multiple vehicles, then carpool to the Coliseum. The distance from the Hagemeyer parking lot to the North Charleston Coliseum is 1.2 miles. Please do not park in the North Charleston Marriott parking lot next door.

One 52-person charter bus will shuttle graduation guests from the Hagemeyer lot to the North Charleston Coliseum. The first shuttle starts at 8 a.m. and the last shuttle will leave the Coliseum at 2:30 p.m. The bus will use the Montague Avenue entrance/exit.

DIRECTIONS

Parking at CSU

A final option is to meet and park an unlimited number of vehicles at CSU (9200 University Boulevard, North Charleston), then carpool to the Coliseum in two vehicles. The distance from CSU to the Coliseum is approximately 10 miles. The preferred lots include the Science Building lot and the commuter parking lot.

Sharing Parking Passes

If you are graduating and do not need two parking passes, please drop off your extra pass at the Registrar’s Office as soon as possible so others may use it.

Livestream/Recording

CSU’s Office of Marketing & Communication will make every effort to livestream the event via social media. Watch all social media pages for updates. In the event of technical difficulties, the entire event will be recorded and posted on YouTube post-graduation.
