Succeed in academics and athletics
The Student-Athlete Success Program works with all student-athletes and their coaches to ensure that students meet the academic eligibility requirements for NCAA Division I competition.
Services available through the Student-Athlete Success Program include:
- Academic Advising
- Personal Counseling
- Mandatory Study Hall for Freshmen, Transfer and At Risk Student-Athletes
- Progress Checks with Faculty Twice per Semester
CHAMPS/Life Skills is a program implemented by the NCAA in 1994 to enhance the overall development of student-athletes at NCAA member institutions. The program seeks to support student-athlete development in five areas:
- Academics
- Athletics
- Personal Development
- Career Development
- Community Service
A variety of workshops are offered in the fall and spring semesters for CSU student-athletes. This program is housed in Athletics. Please contact 843-863-8009 for more information.

- Career Planning & Student Employment – 843-863-8019: Career Counseling and Skills Assessment; GNED 201 Career Planning Seminar for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors (1 credit hour); On-Campus Career Fairs
- Special Needs – 843-863-7159: Accommodations for students with documented learning disabilities or other disabilities that require special assistance
- Midterm and Final Grade Reports to Coaches each Semester
- Recognition of scholar – athletes (3.0 and above) each major semester
- Team GPA awards each major semester
