Veterans Day Ceremony

Dr. William L. “Bill” Palmer of Kingsport, Tennessee, a 98-year-old World War II veteran, will speak at CSU’s Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11 from 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. in the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership. Palmer was a staff sergeant in the U.S. 8th Army Air Force, 381st Heavy Bombardment Group, B-17s, flying out of Ridgewell, Essex, England. He was stationed in England from 1942 to 1945.

Palmer pastored several South Carolina churches including Simpsonville Baptist, Dorchester-Waylyn Baptist (now Doorway in North Charleston) and Edwards Road Baptist (Greenville). He was also a member of the initial Board of Trustees for the Baptist College at Charleston, now Charleston Southern University. Palmer has been married to his wife, Ellen, for 73 years and they have three children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

This will be an opportunity for alternate chapel credit for undergraduate students.
