 Katie Braeuer

Katie Braeuer holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas and is a South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor Candidate. After completing clinical work at the Denton County Juvenile Detention in Denton, Texas, she went on to work as a full-time therapist in a community mental health outpatient clinic in the Wichita, Kan. area. Katie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Friends University, where she later served as an adjunct professor for several psychology courses. Her interests and range of experience include working with those who struggle with anxiety, depression, criminal or legal issues, family/relationship concerns, stress management, spiritual concerns and self-esteem. In addition to counseling, Katie is an avid basketball fan, loves to travel and enjoys going to the beach with her husband Matt and their dogs.

 

Frank Budd

Dr. Frank Budd has more than 32 years experience as a counseling psychologist, including eight years in higher education, and 24 years in the United States Air Force. He has experience in outpatient mental health clinics, inpatient psychiatric units, and substance abuse treatment facilities. He has provided guidance and counseling to more than 35,000 people over his career. His expertise includes: Christian counseling, marital counseling, trusted confident to business leaders, adults from chaotic/abusive families, grief support, adults with ADHD, and assisting people negotiate life/career transitions.

Before joining the CSU family he served as Director, Counseling and Substance Abuse Services for eight years at the College of Charleston. He also helped start a very successful psychiatry residency program in partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina, providing 2-4 psychiatry residents to the college each semester. 

Prior to working in higher education, he served in the United States Air Force for 24 years and retired at the rank of Colonel. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University, a Master's and Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and is certified in Counseling Psychology by the American Board of Counseling Psychology.

Dr. Budd enjoys golf, reading and exercise, and attends LifePark Church in Mt. Pleasant. He and his wife, Patricia, have been married for 34 years and have three adult children.

 

Rico Hall

Counseling Intern

 

Rico is currently a Clinical Counseling graduate student at Columbia International University, as well as the Men’s Basketball Player Development Coach. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina Aiken in Communications and Exercise and Sports Science, and a Master of Arts degree from Eastern University in Organizational Leadership. His clinical interests include integrative therapy styles and sport performance psychology. Rico’s passion is to help others become the very best versions of themselves and to live a life of peace and freedom. In his spare time, Rico enjoys playing basketball, hanging out at the beach and exploring new places with his wife, Lindsay.

Nancy Castillo is currently pursuing a Master of Art degree in professional counseling from Liberty University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Charleston Southern University. Her interests include working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationship concerns, stress management, and spiritual concerns. Outside of work interests, Nancy enjoys traveling, spending time with family and reading.

 

Carly Roberts

Carly Roberts

Practicum Student

Carly Roberts is from Charleston, South Carolina. She went to Clemson University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology. She is now continuing her education to receive a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling at the Citadel Graduate College. Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, personality disorders, trauma and eating disorders. She is passionate about helping others live their lives to their fullest potential. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. She also enjoys going out in the boat, going to the beach and reading.
