Instructor of Criminal Justice
Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership
I am a native New Yorker who moved to South Carolina to raise my son in a warmer climate. I have one son (Matthew) who is currently married to Jessie and they have one amazing grandson. I previously worked for People Against Rape (PAR), a non-profit organization that serves Rape and Sexual Assault victims in the Tri-County Area, as their Director. I continue to work with PAR training their volunteers each quarter.
I then decided to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a Police Officer like my father and in 1995 I was hired by the City of North Charleston. While working as a Police Officer, I also attended college in pursuit of a degree. In 2004, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology from Charleston Southern University. I received a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Charleston Southern University in 2008. I am now working on my Ph. D from Northcentral University and projected to graduate May 2018. I started working for Charleston Southern University in 2010 as an adjunct professor and became a full time Assistant Professor this 2017.
During my time working at the North Charleston Police Department, I have served as Patrol officer, Detective, and School Resource Officer. I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2013 and serve as Watch Commander for the entire City. In December 2017 I will retire from Law Enforcement and devote all my time to teaching.
