Kristina Heaton

Kristina Heaton received her associate degree in the science of nursing in 2007. Understanding the importance of having a bachelor’s degree in nursing, Kristina decided to go back to school while working full-time as a nurse. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2012. It was her enjoyment working with students in the hospital setting that prompted her to go back to school. She received her master’s degree in nursing education from Walden University in 2016. Heaton started working with Charleston Southern as an adjunct clinical instructor prior to transitioning as a full-time faculty member in 2017. Currently, Heaton teaches in both the traditional and accelerated BSN programs.

Kristina Heaton has over 14 years of clinical nursing experience. Her areas of expertise include emergency medical care and home infusion nursing. During her nursing career, Heaton held the roles of charge nurse and department peer interviewer. She was also an avid member of her department and facility Shared Governance and Magnet Committees. She also held the role of chair for the Professional Advancement Committee for one year and chair-elect for the Emergency Department Shared Governance Committee. During these roles she was able to assist her facility in developing an employee recognition program and work towards achieving Magnet Hospital certification.

Kristina currently attends Seacoast Church. She is married and has two sons and one daughter. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and two golden retrievers.

Your Purpose. Our Mission.

I believe every student at CSU has answered God's calling to be part of our university. I am truly humbled and appreciative to be able to teach and mentor our next generation of nurses.
