Horton School of Music

ABOUT US

The Horton School of Music prepares students for careers as professional musicians, educators, music therapists and worship leaders and furthers the performing arts in the Charleston region and beyond. The Horton School of Music consists of four Bachelor of Arts degree programs.

The Horton School of Music promotes musical excellence in a Christian environment. One advantage of the music programs at Charleston Southern is the low student-to-faculty ratio. We offer a highly ranked Music Therapy program as well as a four-year degree in Music Education.

We also provide numerous courses and performance opportunities for nonmusic majors, as well as opportunities for members of the community to learn about music as a part of human culture and experience.

We strive to inspire excellence in musical learning through individual lessons, involvement in ensembles and focused and engaged work in the classroom. We encourage you to cultivate your gifts in a way that people will see you as a leader worth following, both in your work on campus and in the community. And we ask that you use your gifts and talents to serve the One who created them and entrusted them to you.

Music scholarships are available for majors and nonmajors by audition. For more information, visit our scholarship and audition page.
