CSU named to Americas 100 Best College Buys and America's Best Christian Colleges Lists Again

Best Christian CollegeCharleston Southern University has been named to Americas 100 Best College Buys for the ninth consecutive year. The list identifies outstanding colleges offering high quality educations at the lowest possible costs.

The survey results of more than 1,000 colleges nationwide showed a national average cost of attendance based on the regular cost at private institutions and out-of-state cost at public institutions for 2013-2014 of $37,382. Charleston Southerns 2013-2014 cost is $30,700. In South Carolina, four public universities and two private universities were named to this years list.

In addition, Charleston Southern has been named to Americas Best Christian Colleges for the 15th consecutive year for providing a quality education in a Christian environment.

The annual America's Best Christian Colleges list recognizes school affiliated with a recognized Christian denomination or an interdenominational institution incorporating basic Christian principles and beliefs into the instructional curriculum and/or social environment. Charleston Southern is affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention.

Of the more than 1,000 colleges responding to the survey, 384 were identified as Christian institutions of higher education. Of those 384, 95 were named to the Americas Best Christian Colleges list for 2013-2014. In addition to the Christian environment promoted at Charleston Southern, the freshman class had a high school grade point average and/or SAT/ACT score above the national average for all freshmen entering Christian institutions of higher education.

Founded in 1964, Charleston Southern is one of South Carolinas largest accredited, independent universities,  enrolling 3,300 students.
