More than 3,000 middle and high school students from around the Southeast attended LifeWay’s MFuge at Charleston Southern University over the summer.
MFuge is a camp experience designed to help students learn to meet the needs of others.
Cody Robertson, site director for the Charleston MFuge projects, said each week for seven weeks, 20 groups of students were sent out to area sites to work.
Robertson said, “Most of the locations we sent groups to were apartment complexes or community centers such as the Shaw Center, Martin Park and Greentree North Apartments. There students did anything from hosting a backyard Bible club, to doing manual labor to help maintain the facilities. We also sent groups to special needs facilities like the Coastal Center and to the beach to do evangelism.”
In the mornings and evenings, students participated in Bible study and worship time on Charleston Southern’s campus. Charleston Southern has been a host site for MFuge since 2000.
