UNITE’s Arrive Alive Tour® visits CSU

Marketing and Communication // 06.26.2017

UNITE’s Arrive Alive Tour®, a program to educate the public about the dangers of texting while driving and intoxicated driving, returns to the campus of Charleston Southern University on Wednesday, August 23.

According to research conducted by CTIA, an advocate for the wireless communication industry, one of the most commonly recognized driving distractions is cell phone use. Drivers under 20 years old have the highest proportion of distraction-related fatal crashes according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. CTIA suggests “lack of driving experience can contribute to critical misjudgments if they become distracted.”

UNITE uses high-tech simulator and impact video "to heighten awareness to the dangers and consequences of impaired and distracted driving."

CSU students are scheduled to return to campus for the Fall 2017 semester on Friday, Friday, August 18. The event is part of the University’s first-week events. The Arrive Alive program will be held beside the Reflection Pond, adjacent to the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership. Demonstrations will be available to CSU students, faculty and staff from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the center of campus.
