Candidates complete two administrative internships—one at the elementary level (PK-Grade 8) and one at the secondary level (Grades 6-12)—to ensure comprehensive preparation for PK–12 school leadership. Internship placement (Pathway 1 or 2) is structured to align with the candidate’s current teaching assignment.
Internship Pathway 1 (9 credit hours)
For candidates currently teaching at the elementary school level (PK-Grade 8):
- EDUC 684: Internship and Seminar I in Secondary School Administration and Supervision (3 credit hours)
- EDUC 682: Internship II in Elementary School Administration and Supervision (3 credit hours)
- EDUC 683: The Elementary School Principalship (3 credit hours)
Internship Pathway 2 (9 credit hours)
For candidates currently teaching at the secondary school level (Grades 6-12):
- EDUC 681: Internship and Seminar I in Elementary School Administration and Supervision (3 credit hours)
- EDUC 685: Internship II in Secondary School Administration and Supervision (3 credit hours)
- EDUC 686: The Secondary School Principalship (3 credit hours)
Note: Internship II is completed at the level in which the candidate currently teaches
Recommendation for Certification
- Passed Praxis Exam – Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision (5412)
- Completed Internships at both the elementary level (PK-Grade 8) and secondary level (Grades 6-12)
- Received Satisfactory on the Candidate Performance Evaluation
- Completed three years teaching experience
- Completed all coursework requirements for this program
