We look forward to welcoming you back to campus this weekend!  Here are a few very important reminders in order to prepare for the check-in process.

Mandatory COVID-19 testing will be required for all residential students prior to moving back onto campus for the spring semester. This process will allow us to minimize the risk of asymptomatic students who have the virus from infecting others in campus housing. The university has partnered with Fetter Health Care Network to provide this testing at no cost to students upon arrival to campus on January 9 and 10. Students can receive a rapid test upon arrival to campus during their scheduled check-in time. Students must sign up for a check-in time no later than Wednesday, January 6 at noon using this link. Students who are signed up from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. must arrive to campus NO LATER than 4:30 p.m. to get in line for testing. Residents signed up to check-in at 5 p.m. on Sunday are encouraged to select an earlier check-in time.

Here are a few things you need to know about this process:

It is important to note that while rapid testing provides an immediate test result, it has not proven as accurate as PCR testing at this time. With a slightly higher rate of false negatives, there is a chance a student could be tested, receive a negative result, and still have COVID-19. If a student who moves into their residence hall room then becomes symptomatic, they will be moved to ISOLATION, and their roommate and suitemates will be required to QUARANTINE according to the same policies and procedures as the fall semester.

Additional information regarding the move-in procedure can be found below:

Residents and their guests (two maximum) are encouraged to prepare and take action to protect themselves and others while on and off campus through the following procedures:

  1. Practice social distancing (at least 6 feet apart) from others.
  2. Masks or cloth face coverings are required for everyone outside of rooms and should be worn inside of rooms for the duration of move-ins.
  3. Residents are permitted TWO helpers who must also wear masks.
  4. Follow directional signs while navigating entering and exiting a building. Do not go against the flow of traffic.
  5. Residents should move all items from their vehicle into their room FIRST and then remain in their room to unpack and set up their space.
  6. Once the resident is finished moving in and setting up, the resident and guests should vacate the area to allow space for roommates and suitemates and their guests to safely move in.
  7. All students and guests will be required to screen for symptoms of or exposure to COVID-19 via the LiveSafe application, which was used throughout the fall semester. Guests not wishing to download the app may complete their screening online via this link. Students and guests must display their green check mark to access on campus facilities, including the residence halls.

Again, we look forward to having you back on campus beginning this weekend. If you have questions about the testing process, please reach out to the University Pandemic Task Force directly at covid19@csuniv.edu. If you have questions about other aspects of the check-in process, please reach out to Residence Life at reslife@csuniv.edu or 843-863-7190.

Happy New Year!
