“The chemistry department at CSU prepared me to enter graduate school with a highly competitive resume. The department allowed me to work as a lab assistant from sophomore year to graduation. I also worked as an undergraduate research assistant, and publication resulted from this experience. A career fair at CSU connected me with a chemical lab in the Charleston area; I worked as an intern at this lab for over a year. None of my academic and work achievements would have been possible without the support and expertise of the chemistry department at Charleston Southern University.”

Chemistry majors are typically preparing for admission to graduate or professional schools as well as pursuing employment in the chemical industry with their bachelor’s degree.

The Science building houses chemistry, biology and research labs, faculty offices and classrooms. A greenhouse is located adjacent to the science building.

The College of Science and Mathematics ensures through its curricula and course offerings that students in all majors demonstrate an understanding of the continuing role of science and mathematics in human progress.
