About Karen Arnold
Dr. Karen Arnold is currently an Associate Professor of Nursing and a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). She has been teaching at CSU College of Nursing since 2013.
Dr. Arnold earned her B.S. in Biology from the College of Charleston (1995) and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Nursing (1999). She received her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Charleston Southern University (2010). She completed her EdD in Educational Leadership (2022) from Charleston Southern University. Her dissertation examined grit and academic success factors in undergraduate nursing students.
Dr. Arnold has been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. Her nursing career experience includes emergency nursing, staff development, and nursing education. She worked as a staff nurse and clinical educator in the emergency department, taught in an LPN program, and worked as a hospital system wide nurse educator in staff development prior to joining CSU.
As a faculty member at CSU, Dr. Arnold has taught a variety of adult health and medical surgical courses across the undergraduate nursing curriculum. In addition, she teaches courses within the graduate program. She is actively involved in both College of Nursing and University committees and has served as a preceptor for MSN nurse educator students.
Her professional interests include emergency nursing, curriculum development, and transition to practice for new graduate nurses. She is committed to helping nursing students pursue their educational and professional goals.
