About Julius Mutwol

Dr. Julius Mutwol serves as Professor of Political Science and has been teaching at Charleston Southern University since 2007. He received his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), the Bachelor of Arts from Cleveland State University, and Diploma in Secondary Education from Kagumo Teachers College in Kenya.

Prior to joining the CSU faculty, Dr. Mutwol taught at Frederick Community College, Wilberforce University, Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), and the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Additionally, Dr. Mutwol worked as a researcher at Iraq Foundation, and at Open Society Institute. He is currently researching on herder-farmer conflicts, traditional African conflict mediation, and China-Africa relations. He has published articles on democracy and development, and is the author of a book, Peace Agreements and Civil Wars in Africa. He is a specialist in comparative politics, international relations, and African politics.

Dr. Mutwol taught high school in Kenya for three years before moving to the United States.
