About Brooke Gerlach

Brooke Gerlach, PA-C earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics, with a minor in Spanish, from Auburn University in 2013. She then completed her dietetic internship at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she practiced as a clinical dietitian for four years, specializing in nutrition support for neurology, surgery, and trauma patients. Brooke went on to earn her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2018 and later completed a Certificate of Public Health from Drexel University.

Following graduation, Professor Gerlach practiced in neurology at MUSC, with a focus on multiple sclerosis and headache management, while also serving as a clinical preceptor for PA and medical students. Her career has since expanded to include primary care, community health, and global health work. Brooke spent several years working and volunteering with Water Mission and Medical Teams International, including time living in Tanzania, where she supported public health initiatives and program evaluation efforts for refugee camps. She currently practices in primary care in Charleston, caring for underserved populations and mentoring healthcare trainees, and has served as a volunteer lecturer for the MUSC PA Program since 2019.

Professor Gerlach is excited to join the faculty of the Charleston Southern University PA Program and invest in the academic, professional, and spiritual development of her students. She is passionate about training future PAs to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while integrating faith into their practice, especially while serving marginalized populations.

Outside of work, Brooke enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending local sporting events and concerts, and sitting by the water on the marsh.

"I strive to go the extra mile by being a consistent source of support and encouragement for both students and colleagues. I aim to create a safe and welcoming environment where individuals feel heard, valued, and supported. Whether that means offering a listening ear, providing encouragement, celebrating successes, or lifting others up in prayer, I want those around me to know I am fully invested in their growth and well-being and am always cheering them on."
