The Post and Courier will have its first installment of the Palmetto Politics LIVE presented by AARP South Carolina debate series—a statewide affair—on Charleston Southern University’s campus.

The debate forum for the North Charleston Mayoral candidates will be at CSU’s Lightsey Chapel on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 6-7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Ten candidates currently vie for the seat of retiring Mayor Keith Summey, an alumnus of Charleston Southern (then Baptist College at Charleston). Summey has served as North Charleston’s mayor for 29 years and is only the third to fill that seat since the city’s inception.

Palmetto Politics LIVE presented by AARP South Carolina will be moderated by Jeff Taylor, executive editor, with questions from panelists, Schuyler Kropf, politics editor, and Caitlin Byrd, politics reporter. An RSVP is required and tickets are free. Register here
