Bachelor of Science (BS), Aeronautics: Air Traffic Management
Your Degree
Charleston Southern’s Air Traffic Management program is South Carolina’s first FAA-recognized Standard AT-CTI pathway built to prepare students for air traffic control and NAS careers. Graduates hired by the FAA who meet all eligibility requirements and receive CSU’s endorsement can use the Standard AT-CTI curriculum to bypass the FAA Academy Air Traffic Basics course and proceed directly to option-specific initial training.
Learning Outcomes
Our program offers comprehensive air traffic management training, covering NAS structure, tower and radar procedures, safety and human factors, aviation weather, and aviation law with a strong emphasis on professional communication and disciplined decision-making. Students develop the competence and character expected in safety-critical operations, with opportunities for leadership development.
Your Voyage
Graduates of the Air Traffic Management program will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to compete in the FAA hiring pipeline and succeed in demanding federal training environments. Students may also pursue NAS careers in airport operations, airline operations centers, aviation safety, dispatch support, and other roles that require operational fluency and calm execution under pressure.
A Faith-based Program
CSU’s Christian mission shapes the training culture as students practice ethical leadership, service, and accountability in a profession where a single decision can prevent an accident and save lives. Students are encouraged to develop a spiritual foundation that guides their professional conduct and service to others in the aerospace industry.
FAA-Aligned Training
Each air traffic course is built to the FAA Standard AT-CTI framework and mapped to the FAA Air Traffic Basics learning objectives. Students complete FAA Academy equivalent academic training through a standardized CSU curriculum with FAA oversight.
