A new residence hall will soon start taking shape on campus.  Though improvements and updates to the existing dorms have undergone constant attention, it has been more than 30 years since the last residence hall was built.

The new residence hall will be erected on a vacant plot of land next to the library.

“The impact of a new residence hall on our campus cannot be overstated,” said Dean of Students Clark Carter.  “We realize that students spend much of their time in their rooms, and we want to make their living spaces as nice as possible.”

The new dorm is a 204-bed building and will eventually be part of a 2-building complex.

Luke Blackmon, vice president for business affairs, is quick to point out the other aspects of the residence hall complex. “The common spaces include study lounges, a student meeting room, laundry room, a full kitchen and reception desk.”

The first building is on a fast-track to be completed by December 2018.
