Spring semester: The sun is shining on a different display of sports

By Zanelle Willemse | March 27, 2023

Every season has its own sport to showcase; in the fall the football fans unite, during the winter the snow bunnies come out to play, and during the spring it’s time to swing. Despite there only being a short amount of time for sports to be on display for fans to enjoy, the athletes and coaches work together year-round to be ready when the different competition seasons roll around.

For folks who aren’t too familiar with which sport is in season, it can be hard to show your school spirit and support a team at their competition. Along with maybe not knowing much about particular sports, it can be difficult and a little uncomfortable to know how to even start to show your support.

You can start off by heading to the Charleston Southern University Athletics page, and then the men’s and women’s sports will be displayed in the drop down menu, and from there you can access the schedule for the teams, so you can stay up-to-date on when the different sports are hosting home competitions. The spring sports you can attend are baseball, softball, track and field (men’s and women’s), golf (men’s and women’s), and tennis (women’s).

Attending a game or competition with your friends is a great way to take a break from studying or classes and experience something new and fun! And the best part is, as a CSU student, you get free access to our home games and competitions!

If you’re not quite sure how scoring works for a sport, don’t worry about it! Attending a sporting event you’re not familiar with is a great way to learn more and become familiar with new sports. Plus, there is always a scoreboard present, so you will at least be able to follow the score if you have no idea what’s going on.

Your presence and support at competitions really means a lot to us athletes as we represent CSU both away from home and as we defend our home turf.

I have a fun challenge for you: see if you (and your friends) can attend every home game/competition throughout the school year!

Access the CSU sports page!
