CSU Undergrad Commencement moved indoors

By Jenna Johnson | May 7, 2025

After carefully monitoring the weather forecast, the university administration—alongside the Commencement Committee—has made the decision to officially implement Friday’s rain plan. We are grateful for your patience and understanding. As much as we all desired to see our graduates walk across Buccaneer Field this Friday, we cannot move forward with an outdoor event due to the elevated risk of lightning in our area.

Thanks to the valuable input from our graduates, we will proceed with the indoor ceremony schedule on Friday, May 9 in Lightsey Chapel Auditorium as follows:

Undergraduate Commencement Schedule

  • 2:00 p.m. – College of Education, Nielsen College of Business, and College of Adult and Professional Studies
  • 4:30 p.m. – College of Nursing, College of Science and Mathematics, and College of Health Sciences
  • 7:00 p.m. – College of Humanities and Social Sciences and College of Christian Studies

Each graduate will be able to claim up to 8 tickets for their designated ceremony in Lightsey Chapel. Overflow seating with a live video stream will be available in the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership on a first-come, first-served basis. Children ages 2 and under may attend without a ticket if seated on a ticketed guest’s lap.

Bucky’s Bon Voyage will also be moved to the CSU Dining Hall tomorrow, May 8 at 11:30 a.m. preceding an undergraduate commencement rehearsal in Lightsey Chapel at 1:30 p.m.

As a reminder, the Nursing Pinning Ceremony today and the Graduate Commencement Ceremony for all master’s and doctoral graduates tomorrow will be held in Lightsey Chapel as previously planned.

Again, thank you for your continued grace and support as we navigate these changes. We are committed to honoring and celebrating our graduates with excellence and joy—rain or shine! And we look forward to a meaningful and memorable Commencement with our Buccaneer family!
