About Marc Embler
Dr. Marc Embler is Coordinator of Charleston Southern University's online Criminal Justice and Psychology programs. He is a Charleston Southern alum with over 25 years of experience in education and management. Dr. Embler has an extensive background in teaching and training, analytics, strategic planning, communication, and law enforcement. Before making the move to a formal education setting, Dr. Embler spent almost 10 years as a therapist providing individual, group, and family therapy and spent over 20 years working in law enforcement, where he taught virtual courses for several federal entities and conducted training sessions for the District of South Carolina, the US Probation Office, the US District Clerk of Courts, and the US Bankruptcy Courts.
Dr. Embler has been a professor at CSU for over 10 years and has taught psychology, sociology, and student success courses, in addition to teaching criminal justice courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Throughout his tenure, he has held a variety of leadership roles, including head cross country coach, assistant track coach, Title IX Coordinator, Chair of the Criminal Justice Department, Dean of the College of Adult and Professional Studies, and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Outside of work, Dr. Embler loves spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and he also likes to run and keep himself active. He enjoys traveling to see his family and takes great joy in watching his grandchildren in their sports and extracurricular activities.
