Scholarships – Money You Don’t Repay

By Jan Joslin | August 14, 2023

Think you can’t afford a private, Christian university? Think again!

Before you write off Charleston Southern University as too expensive, find out all the financial aid resources available to you.

The first place to begin your search is with scholarships – money that you never have to repay. In addition to the scholarship awards that are given for academic and athletic success, numerous community, church and state groups award scholarship funds.

You may have to put in some time and effort, but it will be worth it in the end. Take a look at all the possible scholarships available on CSU’s financial aid page, charlestonsouthern.edu/admissions/financial-aid/types-of-aid/scholarships/. If you are an incoming freshman, ask your high school guidance counselor for scholarship suggestions. And, whether you are a new or returning student, ask your parents and grandparents if their civic groups, retirement clubs, churches, or banks are offering scholarships.

Some scholarships ask you to write an essay or fill out an application. Buckle down and do the work. Someone is going to receive those scholarships; it might as well be you!
