Bachelor of Arts (BA), History

Charleston Southern’s department of history and political science seeks to develop students’ skills in critical thinking, interdisciplinary research and oral and written communication through historical study and political investigation. Among many other options, the Bachelor of Arts in history degree at Charleston Southern University offers a wide selection of in-depth courses including studies of ancient Greece and Rome, the Old South, East Asia, the American military experience and modern Europe. As juniors, history students may also choose to earn academic credit for semester-long internships in local government offices, with law firms, or at a historic site, museum or archive.

Charleston Southern University’s accreditation can be found here.

“Because of my professors’ knowledge and love for history, I was able to leave CSU with the best set of skills when it comes to interpreting history from a Christian worldview, as well as having a better understanding, passion and respect for the discipline. I truly could not thank them enough.”

A degree in history offers a chance to develop critical thinking and writing skills while exploring areas of individual interest with the help of a dedicated faculty advisor. Students have opportunities for experiential learning at diverse locations across the Lowcountry.
