Traditions
Chapel
Since CSU was founded, Wednesdays have meant that campus closes down for an hour while the student body gathers in Lightsey Chapel. The diverse services are a collective time of worship and teaching.
Bucky
At sporting events and preview days for potential students, you can find Bucky walking around, cheering on CSU and hanging out with students. Bucky is the epitome of Buccaneer spirit.
Blue Fridays
Walk around campus on a Friday before a home football game and see the student body decked out in CSU Blue to support the team.
“I’m so glad I go to CSU!”
Started by Dr. Nicholas Holland in 2011, this is a song taught to every incoming Buccaneer during freshman orientation. The anthem is sung at every sporting event and big gathering on campus. The original tune is referred to as an African American spiritual.
Brick Walkway by the Pond
If you take a walk around the beautiful Reflection Pond you will see more than 100,000 bricks, many engraved with names of seniors and alumni who walked the path during their time at CSU.
Ring Ceremony
Kicking off in 2022, this is a moment to treasure for any CSU Buc who wants to commemorate their college journey. This is a classy event outdoors each spring for students who have completed at least 60 hours and have purchased an official CSU ring.
Caroling in the Round
The science building acoustics allow for a beautiful performance of the CSU choir every December for students and the community. It is a tangible embodiment of Christmas spirit and showcases the musical talent of the CSU students.
Homecoming
Homecoming features something for everyone, whether you graduated 50 years ago, or you are a current student. Events usually include a 5k color run around the beautiful campus, a parade, food, and the big homecoming football game.
Spring Formal
The annual formal is held in a different location each year where students dance the night away with friends before summer begins.
Support Athletics!
Did you know CSU is a charter member of the Big South Conference and sponsors 16 teams at the NCAA Division I Level? Students, show your Buc pride and wear navy blue and pirate gold at a sports event on or off campus!
