Campus Recreation, located in the Brewer Center, gives students the chance to enjoy sports in a fun, relaxed atmosphere, meet fellow students and get physically fit. Our mission is to provide the Charleston Southern University campus with exceptional facilities, programs, and service that will promote a happy, healthier lifestyle in an inclusive, Christian environment. The vision is to be excellent in developing Christian leaders who promote a lifelong passion for living well.

Facilities

Recreation facilities are open to current CSU students, faculty, and staff with a valid CSU ID. You MUST present your ID prior to entering the facility each time.

The Brewer Center is home to a newly renovated weight room, basketball gym, lounge, fitness studio, AND game room!

Brewer Center Hours
Monday-Thursday: 6:30 a.m. to midnight
Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Sunday: 2:00 p.m. to midnight

The pool is open to current CSU students, faculty, and staff. No guests are allowed at the pool at any time.

Pool Hours
Monday: Noon – 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday: Noon -7:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 12:30-7:00 p.m.
Thursday: Noon – 7:00 p.m.
Friday: Noon – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: Noon – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday: 2:00 -7:00 p.m.

Inclement Weather Pool Policy
If thunder occurs, everyone must be out of the water for at least 30 minutes. If lightning occurs, the pool will close for all lightning strikes within 10 miles of the facility. The pool will reopen when there have been no strikes within 10 miles for 30 minutes.

IM Field Hours
Students, faculty, and staff have 24/7 access. To turn on the field lights, students can call security at 843-553-5896.

Costin Plaza Hours
Students, faculty, and staff have 24/7 access. To use the fire pits and grill, check in with the front desk at the Brewer Center within Brewer Center operating hours. 


Intramurals

Intramural sports emphasize group activities with good sportsmanship in a less competitive environment.  It’s very easy to get involved! To be eligible to play, participants must be currently registered CSU students, faculty, or staff.

All intramural participants will be required to create an account on imleagues.com. IMLeagues offers a live support button in the top right corner of all pages; please use this button if you encounter any difficulties.

IMLeagues is specifically designed for college intramural departments and features online sign up and scheduling, customizable team pages, message boards and much more.

  1. Go to imleagues.com
  2. Click on the Sign Up link for registration.
  3. Enter your information, and use your CSU email address (@csustudent.net or @csuniv.edu) and submit.
  4. You will be sent a confirmation email. Log in to imleagues.com by clicking the link at the bottom of the email.
  5. Charleston Southern University should pop up.
  6. Click Join School.
  • Log in to your imleagues.com account
  • Click on the Charleston Southern University link
  • The Current Sports should be displayed toward the bottom of the screen. Click on the sport you wish to join.
  • Choose the league you wish to pay in (Men’s A, Men’s B, Women, etc.)
  • You can join the sport three different ways:
  • Create a team (For team captains)
  • Captains can invite members to their team in two ways:
  • If student has already registered on imleagues: click the invite members link on the team page, search for their name, and invite them
  • If student has not yet registered on imleagues: Click the invite members link on the team page, then click the Can’t find someone? Click here to invite by email address, and input the student email address.
  • Join a team
  • Finding the team and captain name on division page and requesting to join
  • Going to the captain’s player card page, viewing his team and requesting to join
  • Accepting a request from the captain to join his team
  • Join as a Free Agent

Club Sports

Empowering camaraderie through the beautiful game, the Men’s Club Soccer thrives as a tight-knit community united by our passion for soccer. Committed to fostering skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork, they provide a platform for players to grow on and off the field. Through dedication, respect, and unwavering determination, the team aims to represent the spirit of competition while building lasting friendships that extend beyond the pitch.

The CSU E-Sports team stands on three pillars:

  1. To facilitate a community where casual and competitive gamers can come together for collaboration, creativity, and competition.
  2. To promote and facilitate competitive gaming at Charleston Southern University by participating in esports tournaments, events, and competitions.
  3. To create lifelong connections among members who share a passion for esports and gaming.

Membership is open to any Charleston Southern University student who expresses interest in esports, gaming, and competitive video gaming.Members are expected to be active participants in the club, engage in club activities, and maintain communication through Discord or other designated platforms. Members are also expected to pay a monetary due each semester to join or maintain their status as a club member. The price will be determined by the executive council on a semester basis.

The CSU Bass Fishing club is a competitive fishing team that travels across the state of South Carolina. The club helps anglers experience the competitive and tournament aspect of fishing. The team fishes year round in different tournament trails against top programs such as University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Lander University, Presbyterian College, and more.

Fishing tournaments are once a month throughout the school year. Team meetings are generally on a weekly basis.

Full Body Faith classes are held every Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. Open volleyball is offered every Thursday at 9:00 p.m.

Students can check out campus recreation items with their Student ID at the Brewer Center front desk. All items must be returned 15 minuted prior to closing. Items must stay within the campus recreation facilities at all times.

No membership needed!

Any current student, faculty, or staff member is allowed to use the facilities as long as the waiver has been signed, which can be found on a QR code at the Brewer Center front desk.

All items are turned into the front desk and then brought to the security office after one week.
