About Clinical Education

Supervised clinical education experiences are central to students’ development as physical therapists. Students in the DPT program complete four full-time clinical education experiences totaling 32 weeks, across inpatient, outpatient, and specialized practice settings. Under the supervision of clinical instructors, students progressively develop the skills and clinical judgment required for entry-level practice.

Becoming a Partner

The Department of Physical Therapy maintains affiliation agreements with more than 400 hospitals, clinics, and health systems. Entry-level competence develops through work in varied settings, with patients across the lifespan and the full range of health conditions. In partnership with our clinical sites, the goal of the clinical education program is to provide excellent experiences in patient and client management that reflect every dimension of professionalism to create an optimal learning environment.
