CSU’s CPFM partners with Institute for Christian Financial Health to offer Certified Christian Financial Counselor designation

The Center for Personal Financial Management at Charleston Southern University has entered a partnership with the Institute for Christian Financial Health to offer students the opportunity to earn the Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CERTCFC®) designation.

Selected students within the financial coaching program at CSU’s Center for Personal Financial Management will have the opportunity to enroll in the CERTCFC® program, which covers a wide range of competencies. These include understanding biblical principles related to money, identifying and meeting clients’ needs, data collection, goal setting, money management, debt reduction, and educating clients on essential financial topics. To earn the CERTCFC® designation, students must successfully complete the certification examination.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Institute for Christian Financial Health to provide our students with the opportunity to earn the CERTCFC® designation. This partnership strengthens our commitment to preparing students not only to manage their own finances wisely but also to serve others with competence, compassion, and a biblical understanding of stewardship. By combining academic preparation, hands-on peer financial coaching experience, and a respected professional certification, our students will be exceptionally well equipped to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families in our community.”

The new partnership with CSU’s Center for Personal Financial Management provides a resource dedicated to helping students manage their finances effectively and gain practical financial skills. Through this initiative, CSU students have access to the free peer-to-peer financial coaching program, where trained financial peers provide guidance on crucial topics such as budgeting, credit management, student loans, and other foundational financial matters. The program aims to equip students with the tools to navigate their personal finances responsibly while preparing them to serve others in the future.

“We are excited to partner with Charleston Southern University and to join CSU in their excellent work of equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to serve others through financial counseling. I look forward to seeing how CSU students will grow in their understanding of biblical financial principles and take practical steps to help individuals manage their finances in a God-honoring way. CSU students can now graduate with a personal financial management degree, financial coaching experience, and the CERTCFC® designation. That is amazing.”
