Students
- Career Planning Seminar Course
GNED 201-01
Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior students are encouraged to enroll. This course is designed to help students create a professional profile, develop effective career planning skills, develop self-marketing skills through Mock Interviews, create a winning portfolio, learn business etiquette, learn networking skills, salary negotiation and learn effective job search skills. Final grade is calculated into student GPA. The course is offered each fall and spring semesters. Note: Counts for ELR credit.
- Internships and Off-Campus Work-Study Experience
Internships
The Career Center posts internship positions from local, national, and international organizations on the BucCareer Network. Businesses post and update internship positions and their status on a daily basis. Revisit the BucCareer Network list of available internships regularly for the most current listings. Additional internship opportunities are available.
Experiential Learning: Beginning with the entering class of 2018-2019, all students graduating from Charleston Southern University are required to complete one Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR) as part of the Experiential Learning Initiative (ELI). In order to satisfy this requirement, students must successfully complete one course earning a minimum of one credit hour with an ELR designation. This designation is noted in the course description. ELR classes include internships, clinicals, practicums, field courses, travel courses, applied learning, or career planning courses, among others. To inquire about setting up an internship, contact Dr. Melissa Parker at email mparker@csuniv.edu.
Benefits: Work experience is a vital part of career preparation, and internships provide students with experiences which integrate academic studies and professional interests. You have the opportunity to learn through productive work experiences in a field related to your career goal.
