Now that you are officially a Buc, the fun really begins.
A Charleston Southern University education is Your Passport to Purpose! You are beginning a new chapter in your life, and we feel incredibly blessed that you chose to start it with us.
Here are a few things to help you get started on the right foot.

2. Student ID

Your student ID is a very important number that should be memorized. This number will allow you to log into your MyCSU account, your Blackboard account, access the WiFi and much more! You can retrieve your CSU ID number using the “I forgot my ID #” link on the MyCSU homepage.
3. FAFSA and Financial Aid
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). CSU recommends that all students, regardless of income level, complete the FAFSA and all subsequently requested information. Students with a completed financial aid file are also assessed for additional institution and state grants.
Once you complete the FAFSA, we will work on processing your financial aid package. You will be able to access this information in Financial Aid Live (using the Financial Aid tab in MyCSU) as soon as it is available.
CSU offers merit-based scholarships upon acceptance to the university. The scholarship amount is determined by your GPA at the time of high school graduation. The scholarship amount may change based on financial need and residency status.
Don’t forget to schedule a financial aid appointment with one of our counselors. You can discuss financial awards, loans, grants, etc.
4. Secure Your Spot
Confirm your enrollment by paying your $300 Enrollment Deposit*!
You can pay this deposit online here. Look for “New Students” in the right hand column.
*$100 for International Students.
5. Review Housing Options

Once you’ve committed to CSU, don’t forget to complete the New Resident Housing Application on your MyCSU account to select your housing preference or request a roommate. All freshmen who do not live in the tri-county area are required to live on campus.
You will also need to turn in your CSU Immunization Form. This is a CSU specific form that must be completed by a healthcare professional and turned into Residence Life. These forms become available on your MyCSU account as soon as you are accepted and receive your ID number.
6. RSVP for Registration Day

Registration days are such an exciting day for new Bucs! Tour campus, meet academic advisors and faculty, spend time with your fellow students and register for classes. You will also be able to get your CSU ID Card and meet about financial aid on this day! These are offered during the summer before you move-in.

7. Move-In and Orientation

The real deal! New Student Move-In and Orientation happen all at once. The CSU team of orientation leaders, campus ambassadors, admissions and residence life staff, and many more will be here to help you move in and get acclimated! Meet new Bucs at our outdoor barbeque, play games at Playfair, and get oriented to your new home!
