The Charleston Southern University Scholars Academy is a dual enrollment program for high school juniors and seniors who want to earn college credit while still in high school. These classes are academically challenging and taught from a Christian perspective.
High school students who successfully complete a dual enrollment class will earn three credits toward their college degree. The more classes a student takes while in high school, the sooner he or she will complete college. Students may also apply the courses earned to the college of their choice, but students should contact the registrar of the college to assure application of credits.
High school students who enroll as freshmen the following year at CSU will be automatically eligible to receive a scholarship for the course(s) they took at CSU while in high school. The CSU Scholars Academy scholarship is limited up to $1,000 one-time for the first year at CSU.
All courses are taught online, with some available in the traditional classroom setting on the CSU campus.
Courses are available in Art, Biology, Christian Studies, Communications, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, English, Health, History, Music, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. Courses will vary each semester.
$500 per 3-credit hour course. Financial aid is not available for the CSU Scholars Academy. Textbooks are not included in the tuition cost.
High school juniors and seniors with a 3.0 GPA with qualifying scores in PLAN, ACT, PSAT or SAT are eligible to apply.
