The Global Flex Program includes full online access to everything we have on campus!

Global Flex includes an optional free weekly Global Zoom Hangout for all students enrolled in the program. This forum provides a relaxed space to interact with your fellow students, raise questions and concerns, and encourage each other to stay focused and motivated. The Center for Global Education staff will host the Global Zoom Hangout. They are ready to answer questions or provide tips for accessing CSU resources you need to be successful.

At CSU, we want you to feel at home! We start with our three-day international orientation, where you will:

  • Meet other international students,
  • Learn about the American classroom culture and American culture in society
  • Tour the CSU campus, the neighboring businesses, resources like the Writing Center and Math labs, and tour the beautiful historic city of Charleston
  • Have lots of fun! Kayaking, bowling, and games help students get to know each other.

In your first semester, there are two special classes just for international freshmen:

  • Freshman Seminar course, GNED 101. All freshmen take this course but this section is for international students. We talk through cross-cultural interactions, and learn about resources on campus. We also plan excursions around town to have some fun getting off campus.
  • ENGL 121 and 122 – Freshman English for Speakers of Other Languages. This freshman English course is required for all students, but international students are in a section together so that everyone feels free to ask questions and seek help.

Our International Club is available for all students and meets regularly planning events throughout the year. We carve pumpkins in the fall, decorate cookies for Christmas and plan special outings. We also have opportunities for you to have an American exchange family and a Peer Buddy – an American student mentor.

We will do everything we can to help you transfer to a major which may be completed online or, if you are close to graduating, we will use online consortium courses for you within the guidelines of applicable CSU Academic Policies.

If you are unsure whether you can come to campus to complete your degree, please review the online degrees that we already have available. We add online majors every year. We will do our best to ensure that each student is successful, however, if obtaining a U.S. study visa is historically challenging in your country, it may be best to choose one of the majors that can be completed 100% online.
